Welcome to WAC@WSU

Writing is a high-impact practice (HIP) that improves student engagement with your course content and can help you better assess student learning. The Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program provides a variety of resources to help faculty integrate writing into existing courses, make writing assignments more effective, or design writing-infused courses. The WAC program is coordinated by Catherine Savini with support from the Writing Liaison Committee.

"In the ten years since beginning my career here at Westfield State, I’ve benefited from a number of trainings put on by Writing Across the Curriculum.  In every training, I have come away with new tools and cutting-edge perspectives for teaching writing in my courses.  I’ve learned to place emphasis on the writing process and to provide space for students to develop as writers first, rather than over-scrutinizing the grammar and mechanical dimensions in ways that can frustrate students.  This recent workshop was no exception and I left feeling armed with some helpful strategies and tools for improving my courses."
